Décima Colina

Founded in 1995, Décima Colina handles every stage of presenting cultural events.

This includes project conception and design, national and international artistic selection, budgeting, fundraising, financial planning, executive production, communication and marketing, and team management. It works in the performing and visual arts and also develops projects in the corporate sector.

Its activity extends beyond Portugal to Mexico, Spain, France, Macau, Hong Kong, Brazil, the USA, Japan, South Korea, South Africa and Angola, among other countries.

“They thought I was a surrealist, but I never was. I never painted dreams, I only painted my own reality.”

Frida Kahlo

Many different spaces and venues: Décima Colina has presented its cultural and artistic projects in arenas and pavilions, concert halls, theatres, coliseums and intimate venues, in public open-access spaces, in private spaces, in monuments and in national heritage sites such as museums, palaces and castles, not only in Portugal but also in many venues abroad.

Internationally, we would highlight some iconic venues such as the Palácio de São Clemente and the Teatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; the Kennedy Center in Washington and the Alvin Ailey Theater in New York, USA; the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, Spain; the Teatro D. Pedro V, the Mandarin’s House and the Venetian Casino in Macau; the Joburg Theatre in Johannesburg; and Theatre Cocoon in Tokyo, Japan.

She launched pioneering digital and hybrid projects during the pandemic and currently collaborates with new initiatives at cultural venues in Lisbon.

She works regularly with the pianist and artistic director Adriano Jordão, particularly as general director and producer of the Mafra Music Festival and in the conception and delivery of other cultural activities in the town, in close partnership with the municipality and the National Palace. She also collaborates occasionally with the Azores International Festival and with other festivals in Portugal and abroad, in both the performing and visual arts.

She was curator and programmer of the 1st and 2nd editions of Festival IN (Lisbon) in 2013 and 2015 – a festival dedicated to the cultural and creative industries – and, also in 2015, took the installation “A Beleza que não é só minha” (“The Beauty That Is Not Only Mine”) by visual artist Cristina Rodrigues to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

She also mentors young artists at the start of their careers and works with international projects with a view to bringing them to Portugal.

In addition to her role as Managing Director of Décima Colina, from 2017 to 2020 she also served as a local councillor in Lisbon.
