We want to place art and culture at the heart of people’s lives.
Décima Colina responds to the many cultural challenges put forward by artists, institutions and companies, knowing that Art has the power to transform.
We develop cultural and artistic programming for different venues, provide cultural management, produce shows and festivals, and organise national and international tours.
Brazil, USA, South Africa, Angola, Macau and Hong Kong (China), Japan, Spain, France… are some of the countries where Décima Colina has already been and will continue to be.
The cultural management of an artistic project requires a knowledge of management tools, of the market, and of the unique characteristics of the artistic and cultural project or work in question.
Décima Colina regularly programmes events across the country, contributing to the cultural affirmation of each region and to its social cohesion.
To date, Décima Colina has produced and presented more than 400 shows and worked with more than 250 artists and collectives, totalling nearly 800 sessions open to the public.
In this area, we work with clients to develop the entire strategy and design of events that allow the brand and company to communicate with their internal and/or external audiences.
The cultural management of an artistic project requires management tools and a knowledge of the market and of the unique characteristics of the artistic and cultural proposal we want to work with.
Curation leads us to make aesthetic and artistic decisions about how a given work is presented to the public – choosing the space, the time and the place, and considering the surrounding circumstances – always in full harmony with the unique characteristics of the works, some of which are still being created.
Some examples of our work in this area:
Décima Colina regularly develops its artistic programming throughout the country, contributing to the cultural affirmation of each region and to its social cohesion, and also works with a range of international partners.
We have a constant presence at national and international festivals. We have worked with the Macau Arts Festival and the Macau International Music Festival since 1997, and in recent years we have taken part in the Iberian Suite festival at the Kennedy Center (Washington) in 2015, the Festival Cervantino in Mexico and the Portuguese Culture Showcase in Madrid. In Portugal, Décima Colina works with the Azores Music Festival, the Sintra Music Festival and the Marvão Music Festival, and since 2018 regularly with the Mafra Music Festival “Filipe de Sousa”, under the artistic direction of Adriano Jordão.
Recently, in close collaboration with the Edifício dos Leões (Fundação Santander Portugal), we have been programming the “Música nos Leões” season, which takes place in the heart of Lisbon.
As part of the 2012 European Capital of Culture, a particular highlight was the concert that brought together José Carreras, the Orquestra Fundação, Sofia Escobar and Dora Rodrigues, as well as the Fukushima Choir, made up of survivors of the nuclear accident that occurred in that city in 2011, among many other artists presented that year.
We would also highlight our collaboration with Jorge Salavisa, director of the Teatro São Luiz, where we presented a varied programme featuring great names of Brazilian theatre such as Paulo Autran and Cechil Thirée in “Variações Enigmáticas”, and José Saramago’s play “O Evangelho segundo Jesus Cristo” (“The Gospel According to Jesus Christ”) with Thiago Lacerda and Maria Fernanda Cândido, among many other artists, at a time when the theatre was being “given back” to the city.
The richness and diversity of Brazilian culture led the greatest names in Brazilian performing arts – in theatre, music and dance – to perform in Portugal through Décima Colina.
To date, Décima Colina has produced and presented more than 400 shows and worked with more than 250 artists and collectives, totalling nearly 800 sessions open to the public. Many of these international and Portuguese productions went on to tour Portugal, as was the case with the National Ballet of Spain, Paganini, the plays “Saia Curta e Consequências” and “Vamos lá então perceber as mulheres… mas só um bocadinho”, Nuevo Ballet Español, Djavan, the Quarteto Jobim Morelenbaum, the opera “O Elixir do Amor” (L’elisir d’amore), Mayumana, Pat Metheny, Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo, Ute Lemper, the female clown collective “As Levianas” and the play “Batalha de Arroz” with Miguel Falabella and Claudia Raia, among other shows.
We also promote the circulation of artists abroad: the Brazilian dance company CUBO in Spain, the National Ballet of Spain in Brazil, the fado singer Mafalda Arnauth in Mexico, and the world tour of “Ode Marítima” with Diogo Infante and João Gil, which travelled to 4 countries and 7 cities. We are currently touring Portugal with “Une Histoire Bizarre”, a show created with migrants and refugees living in our country.
We are also preparing the world tour of the video art installation Viagem pelo Esquecimento (Journey Through Oblivion), by Ana Mesquita, Mia Couto and João Gil.
In the field of corporate events, it has worked and continues to work with the following companies: Montepio Crédito, Finicrédito, Santander Totta (Sofia Escobar, António Zambujo, João Elias), Montepio Geral, BP, APSEI (The Black Mamba), APSEI Congress 2018 (with Rita Guerra, Roberta Medina, etc.), Sheraton and Minor Group, among others. In this area, it also works with clients to develop the entire strategy and design of events that allow the brand and company to communicate with their internal and/or external audiences.
